What's the Buzz about Coffee

Coffee contains several potentially liver-protective compounds, including the antioxidant, chlorogenic acid. These compounds may help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, improve the way the body handles glucose and fat, and support the liver’s natural cellular recycling and cleanup up process known as autophagy.

Human studies have linked regular coffee consumption with less liver fibrosis and slower progression of Fatty Liver, Hepatitis C and chronic liver disease.

Although coffee is not a treatment by itself, two to three cups a day—regular or decaffeinated—may be a simple and enjoyable way to support liver health for people who tolerate it.
